Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) is triggered by traumatising events within an individual’s life that goes on to affect their daily functioning or lifestyle.
Traumatic stress could be caused by a number of life events including witnessing or being involved in a traumatic accident or event, death of a loved one, childhood abuse, or domestic violence for example.
Experiences can cause everyday symptoms, or ones that are triggered when re-exposed to certain situations. Panic attacks, anxiety, depression, guilt, nightmares or intrusive memories can be common symptoms.
HOW WE HELP
There is no ‘one box fits all’ treatment for PSTD as each experience will have different symptoms and triggers. Providing the right treatment and support is crucial to enable everyday life to continue and provide strategies to help manage both mind and body.
Therapy is a critical step in recovery, and the most effective treatment from processing past trauma. Enabling and providing appropriate support to manage physical, mental and emotional responses, along with strategies for families is paramount.
OUR PROGRAMS & SERVICES
Our skilled and trained support team at TMCS can provide therapy support with in-home services if required.
Other support services include,
- domestic support through household care
- social supports
Peer to peer support services can also be incredibly beneficial to someone experiencing PTSD. Although each trauma event will be different for individuals, a shared experience can help to break down barriers and provide larger support networks within the community.
