Choice and Control in the NDIS:
Choice and control are key principles to how the National Disability Scheme (NDIS) should work for participants, but what does it mean?

  • Choice and control is integral to getting the most out of your NDIS plan. You can exercise choice and control by understanding how your funding can be used and deciding how it is spent.
  • If you need support to use choice and control, you can ask a family member, friend, local area coordinator or advocate.
  • NDIS participants should be able to exercise choice and control in what disability supports and services they receive because this is a way to protect the rights of participants.
  • Record Keeping: it is the provider who is responsible under the NDIS Act to ensure records are kept in accordance with the NDIS Rules.
  • These records are kept in the form of meeting minutes and zoom meeting recordings. At any point in time you or any other party that you authorise can access your personal data.
